I. DESCRIPTION

NAME:
E-Rod Active Grounding Electrode

Description:
The grounding electrode shall be the E-Rod, incorporating electrolytic compounds in its “Active Technology” enabling enhanced resistance-to-ground capabilities. The electrode shall consist of Type K copper assembled in modular sections. The copper pipe shall be permanently sealed and shall contain the electrolytic compounds within its tube. Air-holes shall be placed at the top most portion of the riser or shaft, allowing for air and moisture intake. For the “S-Series” drainage holes shall be placed at the bottom of the shaft allowing the electrolytic solution to saturate the surrounding soils. For the “L-Series” models, drainage holes shall be provided along the length of the shaft allowing the electrolytic solution to saturate the surrounding soils.

Configurations:
“S-Series” Vertical or Straight shaft models:

  • E-R-10-S: 1” x 10’ active electrolytic grounding electrode
  • E-R-20-S: 1” x 20’ active electrolytic grounding electrode

“L-Series” Horizontal or L-shape shaft models:

  • E-R-10-L: 1” x 10’ active electrolytic grounding electrode
  • E-R-20-L: 1” x 20’ active electrolytic grounding electrode

Material Composition:
Type K Copper.

Measurements:
“S-Series” 1” O.D. pipe in 10’ lengths.
“L-Series” 1” O.D. pipe with 3’ riser section and 7’ trench section.

Maintenance:
Maintenance free with an expected life exceeding 15 years.

Utility Connections:
Conductor connection is a 24” 4/0 or #2 tinned solid pigtail, oriented either up or down, as specified.

Backfill Material:
The highly conductive backfill shall be E-Fill, an all-natural ground resistance enhancing material derived from Bentonite clay.

Cover Box:
The cover box shall be the E-Box composite material testing well.
